How Social CEOs Can Build Startup Tech Companies

Social CEOs have already mastered the art of building and sustaining a powerful social network, but many fail to leverage that influence into something meaningful for their startup endeavors.

The age of the social CEO is upon us, and whether you’ve got a strong social influence with no company or a startup company with no social influence, there are steps you can take to reap the rewards of social entrepreneurship in the establishment or expansion of a startup tech company.

What exactly is social entrepreneurship?

Put simply, social entrepreneurship is the social networking action taken by a CEO or entrepreneurial mind. It includes blogging and regular interaction on social networks like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Successful networking CEOs tend to have tens of thousands of followers, if not more, and leverage those contacts as potential customers and business partners.

If you’re already socially involved:

Once you’ve developed an idea for a potential startup tech company, start shifting gears in your daily posting regimen. If you currently manage a blog, include post topics that are more closely aligned with the goals and demographics of your upcoming company. If you’re mostly involved on social networks, starting having conversations with your users to see what they would like to see in a product or service like the one you’re developing. Eventually, consider starting a crowdfunding campaign to generate startup capital and use your social audience to build interest.

If you aren’t socially involved, but have a company:

Start building your personal brand as soon as possible. It’s a good idea to separate your individual identity from your company’s brand, so create social network profiles for each. Don’t be shy either—reach out and talk to people who engage with you. People are more likely to talk with other people than they are a company. Use the power of your personal influence to help people recognize the advantages of your startup tech company.

Harnessing the social power of your own personal network can have untold advantages for your company. If you’re interested in building out a solid strategy for your social media campaign, schedule me for a conversation!
